Hola mis hermanos y hermanas!!
After five years, I barely
recognize Florida Norte. It’s incredible
how much they have grown both physically with the new church and spiritually as
a congregation. My mouth literally
dropped! Today was our first day running
the soccer outreach and it was quite the success!! We started with a short
devotion about how it is important to prepare for the second coming of Christ
just like it is important to practice skills in soccer. Afterward we did some dribbling drills and a
few short games. Competition was fierce
as always. Paster Jaime told us that
more than half of the kids were not part of the congregation! And pretty much all of these kids and
teenagers followed us back to the church where we had our lesson of the
shepherd and his lost sheep. Matthew was
typical Mateo as the enthusiastic “pavo real” or peacock and Moises helped us
out as the shepherd. The kids loved it,
or maybe they were just laughing at our Spanish J
Tonight we had a lovely discussion
with the congregation about their mission and vision of the church, how to
communicate between the different ministries and the roles of leaders in each
of the ministries. We also discussed the
importance of electing half the leaders one year in order to maintain a balance
between the new and the experienced.
They shared with us the different ministries they now have and all of
their leaders which Matthew wrote down for us to pray about. Que increible!! Verdad?
We do have one prayer request from
everyone back home…Barbara has been sick all day so join us as we pray for a
speedy recovery and the return of her strength.
Dios Sabe.
Gracias a todo y Dios Bendiga
Erika
